Proposal for implementation of Directive 2023/2673 into Swedish law

We have previously written about the Directive 2023/2673 concerning distance contracts concluded by means of an online interface – read the full article here: The right of withdrawal from distance contracts concluded by means of an online interface – EU Digital Compliance Tracker (Snellman). The Swedish government has now published a Swedish Government Official Report (SOU 2025:34) outlining proposals for how the directive should be implemented into Swedish law.

The proposal correlates with the requirements of the directive in material aspects by introducing stricter requirements for distance contracts than before, particularly in the context of e-commerce and consumer credits. Key proposals include a clear and easily accessible right-of-withdrawal function and stricter information requirements for contracts concluded digitally. For instance, in certain cases, companies will be required to provide a withdrawal function that is clearly labelled, easy to read, and easily available within the online interface.

The provisions are proposed to enter into force on 19 June 2026. If you have any questions about these changes, do not hesitate to contact us.
